The purpose of a scholarship is to attract talented students who will enhance Browns Plains State High School's education programs and positively contribute to the School's culture. There are three types of scholarships:
- Academic
- Cultural
- Future Leader
Scholarships may be offered to students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement or leadership skills. Applications for 2025 Scholarships close at 3:00pm on Friday 21 June, 2024. The recipients of the scholarships will be notified, via letter in Term 4, about their success in receiving a uniform pack and full remission of the enrolment resource contribution fee for the following year. Scholarships are funded by the School.
The following scholarships are available:
Academic Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement. To be considered for an academic scholarship, students entering Year 7 must submit a Scholarship Application Letter (see template below) and any supporting documents to the school administration with their Program of Excellence Application. Students should include copies of awards for previous academic achievements and participation in co-curricular activities in the school or in the community (volunteer work, leadership positions etc.).
Cultural Scholarships
The cultural scholarships may be awarded to students who have demonstrated excellence or the requisite talent to contribute to the Browns Plains State High Instrumental Music program. Students applying for the cultural scholarship must complete the Scholarship Application Letter (see template below), students must have the capacity to skilfully contribute to the school's Instrumental Music program including lessons, ensembles, concerts and competitions. Students should also include evidence of relevant achievements such as school reports, certificates or reference from a Music teacher.
Future Leader Scholarship
These scholarships maybe available to students who have demonstrated leadership qualities at school or in the community. In addition to the Scholarship Application Letter (see template below), students applying for this scholarship must provide a letter of recommendation citing leadership qualities and/or leadership position (e.g. School Captain) from a teacher or leader at their school. Students should also include details of participation in any co-curricular activities at school or in the community such as volunteer work.
Scholarship Application Letter
Please review the template (PDF, 80 KB) for the application letter. The application letter must be written by the student, and should include:
- what type of scholarship the student is applying for e.g. Academic, Cultural or Future Leader;
- the student's aspirations and interests;
- the student's academic achievement and successes and/or their involvement in extra-curricular activities.
- Supporting evidence e.g. report cards, letter of recommendation (where applicable) should be attached.
